I would like to encourage every student from all genres to participate in the concert as I believe it gives them a great sense of achievement, confidence and chance to showcase all of their skills learned throughout the year for family and friends. Island Dance works very hard to ensure students feel comfortable on stage and will strive to make the concert an enjoyable and exciting experience for all.
Here is all the information you need for you and your dancer to be prepared for our concert.

Island Dance showcases two concerts on the same day.
Both concerts are identical!
Students are required to participate in BOTH performances if participating.

Pre- School students who are in Ballet/Jazz/Tap Tots or Tumble Tots will be able to be collected in the interval of each concert and will be able to watch the remainder of the concert front of house with their parents/carer or can be taken home.
Performing in the concert is optional.
If your child cannot take part in the performance, they can still participate in all classes and will learn the concert dance like everyone else. They will learn many important performance skills, develop their ability to retain choreography and have the especially important role of being a rehearsal understudy, which is helpful to their classmates and teachers.
All details are provided below so there are NO HIDDEN SURPRISES. This will enable you to make an informed decision as to whether you are able to participate. We will consider you are fully committed when you have completed the concert registration form.

$50.00+gst per student

- Saturday dress rehearsal and any additional stage rehearsals on the week leading up to the concert date
-Digital link of concert video
-Digital download of class group photographs
-Hard copy of the illustrated concert programme
-Pre Concert Photo Shoot - Saturday 7th September
To participate in the concert all families will be required to pay a concert levy. This will be sent via invoice and can be paid across term 3.

COSTUMES
You will be happy to know firstly there is NO costume making and secondly parents will not be required to buy their child’s costumes outright. Please note that most dance schools require you to either purchase the materials to sew all your costumes or purchase all costume outright which can cost anywhere from $40 plus with many tutus going into the $100s! This is solely for a costume and does not include the price of accessories, head pieces or alterations that may be required. We replace this with a costume hire fee to Island Dance which covers the following:
I pride myself in trying my best to keep these costs down to prevent a huge charge for parents and try very hard to make the entire concert experience (including costuming) affordable. By participating in fundraising events that have taken place and continuing to do so leading up to the concert, these prices are significantly reduced. I hope you find our approach to costuming beneficial and the following contribution charge to be fair: $45.00+gst for your child’s first genre (e.g. Ballet) $25.00+gst for every additional genre (e.g. jazz, acro) For example, if your child participates in Test 1 Ballet/Jazz and Acro: $95+gst is the total payable for 3 costumes! Total amounts will be sent via an invoice alongside the concert levy after the concert agreement form has been completed online. All payments are due by Friday 1st September. |
CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHS
Saturday 7th September – Photo Day
We have secured Pointe Shoot Love Photography to attend the studio on the above date. All students involved in our concert will be invited to the studio to get their individual professional photographs taken in each costume alongside their dance class photographs.
A scheduled timetable will be out nearer the time.
This is not a compulsory day yet those who do not participate will then not be in concert programme.
A reminder there is strictly no film and photography during the concert performance. Therefore, this is a wonderful keepsake and fabulous memory for dancers!
Saturday 7th September – Photo Day
We have secured Pointe Shoot Love Photography to attend the studio on the above date. All students involved in our concert will be invited to the studio to get their individual professional photographs taken in each costume alongside their dance class photographs.
A scheduled timetable will be out nearer the time.

CONCERT VIDEOGRAPHY/PHOTOGRAPHY
During our performances, we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the show and leave the pictures and videotaping to the pros! Everyone will receive a digital link to watch the concert - example above. Our professional photographers will also be taking snaps throughout the dress rehearsal and concerts with images being available to purchase online directly from the company. These are normally available within 2-3 weeks of concert being completed and remain available for purchase for up to 6 months.
A professional company will film all shows. The cost of this is included in your concert levy. You will receive a link to the concert which you can then share with family and friends who live interstate or overseas. You cannot re-edit, change or on-sell this product. The video licence is for a single private household use so there is no public online publishing or public sharing allowed.

HAIR AND MAKEUP
One of the most exciting aspects of the dance concerts can sometimes be the prospect of wearing makeup and doing their hair nicely for the stage. As a parent you are probably panicking over idea of having to somehow get their hair into a neat style and applying their makeup.
It doesn’t have to be tricky, in fact it can be quite simple. We will also be hosting tutorial workshops between now and the concert alongside providing online tutorials to allow you to have some practice rounds.

It takes a lot of help to make the concert run smoothly, plus, it is a lot of fun to see what goes on behind the scenes of a production like this. For the safety and security of all dancers, only parents who have signed up with us as a parent volunteer may be backstage during concert times. Please help out if you can. We would love to have extra hands backstage to help supervise our dancers. If you would like to assist please get in touch with Miss Marie.
Blue cards are required to be processed and approved via the Blue Card Portal in advance of assisting.

💞DADDY DANCING is BACK!! 💞
This is a beautiful experience to meet fellow dads of the school, have a really good time, and also enjoy the magical moments of dancing with your daughter!
Rehearsals are on Thursday evening 7.30pm (dads only initially).
There has been an amazing turnout over the last 8 years and this year we want even more
dads/uncles/brothers/grandads involved.
No experience needed - just a big heart to dance with your Island Dancer!
